Biodiesel works in any diesel engine, this includes, boats, cars, trucks and machinery, without any conversion or modifications to the engine or the fuel system if your engine was build in the last 15 years. Some fuel lines may need to changed if your vehicle is older than 15 years.

Biodiesel is a clean, safe, renewable fuel, that is easy to make at home. Most home users make up a batch every week or so, or once a month, and many people have been making their own biodiesel at home for years.

When you start to make biodiesel at home, try to get a selection of waste oils from different restaurants. For most restaurant owners, finding a way to get rid of their used oil for free is a blessing. Be friendly and tell them what you want to use it for. You may need to organise with them to drop by once a week and pick it up, but in the beginning maybe get a few liters to test first. The average fish and chip takeaway or Chinese restaurant will have to change their oil at least once a week, sometimes twice, depending how diligent they are, and most have to pay to have it taken away, so once you build up a relationship with them, you should be able to get all the supplies you need.

When you are confident about achieving consistent results every time, testing oils from your variety of different sources, then it is time increase your production to meet your needs. Once you get a feel for the process you will have a much better idea of what works best and who best to source your oil from.
