Renewable Energy Resources

Reduce your power bill todayHi everyone,

I’ve set up this website as a help to anyone who has an interest in renewable energy. If you want to make your own solar panels, explore wind power and utilize green building materials, then this site will tell you everything you need to know.

Inside you’ll find numerous tips and advice to help you generate your own power and green your home with renewable energy resources.

First of all, here’s a brief rundown of some of the renewable energy resources we will be looking at in detail.

The best energy comes from nature. Sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat are all renewable, that is, naturally replenished. Solar and Wind power, when harnessed, are not only cost-effective ways to provide free energy, but they can also play a role in protecting our environment.

Solar power works by harnessing the sun’s energy and storing it in photovoltaic cells as electrical current. Originally, solar technology used large crystals made from silicon, but was expensive because the large crystals were difficult to grow. Thin film solar technology has since been developed using smaller, cheaper crystals, such as copper-indium-gallium-selenide.

Wind Power involves using a wind turbine to harness the power of the wind . A propeller, with spinning rotors, turns a shaft when the wind blows them, and that shaft then spins a generator. The generator then creates electricity. Pretty simple really!

More and more people are exploring the possibility of generating their own electricity using wind turbines and solar panels in their own homes. A standard homemade wind turbine for the family home can be built for around $200.

Professionally installed solar panels often prove costly, and it can take up to 10 years to claim enough free electricity back, to make the cost worthwhile, but many people are now making their own solar panels. There are many great DIY kits available, and you can make them as small or large as you like, depending on how much electricity you need.
